Calibrating using our wide belt machines is cost effective, faster than stone grinding, cooler than milling, heavier cuts than fly-cutting and better than 0.001” flatness and parallel on 2x1m plate. And it still produces a short scratch finish suitable for leak-free metal to metal contact.
Calibration tolerance is another important aspect of quality control in the metal finishing process. Calibration tolerance is the maximum acceptable deviation between the known standard and the calibrated device.
CALIBRATING & TOLERANCE GRINDING
With the correct abrasive mineral, travelling at the correct speed, with the correct pressure, and there is enough power to do the job, on a robust enough machine with a sophisticated control system to monitor and maintain the process, high stock removal rates of hard material, to extraordinarily tight tolerances (0.05mm over slabs of 2000x11000mm) can be achieved and maintained. Sanding paper has come a long way, and few people realise just how far.
